State availability FAQ

Everything else is in the full FAQ — or read borrower reviews from your state.

Why can't I get a short-term loan in my state?

Some states prohibit payday-style lending or cap rates at about 36% APR, which short-term lenders don't offer under. Installment and personal loan offers are usually still available in those states.

Does the law of my state or the lender's state apply?

Your state's law applies. Lenders in our network must be licensed in the state where you live, and the limits on amount, term and cost come from that state.

What does 'maximum amount' mean in the table?

The largest payday-style loan a lender may legally make in that state. Lenders often cap lower, and the amount you're offered depends on your income. Installment and personal loans have separate, usually higher limits.

Can I apply if I'm travelling or stationed in another state?

Eligibility is based on your state of residence (your address), not where you are when you apply. Active-duty servicemembers and dependents are covered by the Military Lending Act's 36% cap regardless of state.

How do I check a lender's license?

Every state regulator in the table keeps a public license search. Your agreement shows the lender's legal name; look it up before you sign.

Is this table legal advice?

No. It summarizes public state rules at the time of writing and may lag changes. Confirm current limits with your state regulator or the lender's disclosure.
